Change needed in a calmer financial environment

Competition, concentrations (provident, health insurance companies, etc.) and distribution and regulation methods (consumers, dependency, international accounting standards, etc.) are modifying the landscape of information organisations and systems.

In this environment, insurance companies, burdened with increasing claims, are currently developing controlled-growth strategies in order to combine development with profitability.   To do this, they need to:

  • Obtain or further refine knowledge of their customers, their characteristics (in terms of risk in particular) and requirements,
  • Implement decision-aid and customer reference database analysis tools, for use by CRM or e-commerce types of front office, as well as fast-expanding telephone platforms,
  • Enrich their product ranges and the management of network of partners in order to develop customer loyalty (and capture customers) notably via the assembly of products and services, health insurance in particular,
  • Make certain of a total quality situation for their back and front offices and technical and organisational interfaces, at the same time reducing costs.

Sopra Group is a major partner of Insurance, Provident and Health insurance companies in the area of consulting and information services.

To assist with their evolution, Sopra Group has developed skills in the insurance sector covering:

  • Personal insurance, property and goods insurance and liability (including credit insurance
  • Major corporate functions (financial, administrative management, claims, assets, networks, etc.).

In addition, due to its methodological and technological skills (steering of major projects or application outsourcing operations, ISO9000 and CMMI), it has been able to build up global partnerships with the majors in the sector.

In light of the issues at stake in the sector, Sopra Group proposes a range of expertise covering and combining the following areas:

Customer issues:

  • E-business , CRM and Business Intelligence centres of competence
  • Control over reference databases
  • Project owner assistance consulting skills

Operating excellence issues:

  • The implementation of software packages (EAI, BPM and BAM) in order to  "urbanise ", "orchestrate" and "supervise " major insurance information systems such as pools for the management of administrative tasks, claims and call centers, etc..
  • Specialised exchange platforms supplied by Axway for Mandatory Health and Complementary Health Insurance; in fact, in light of the changing face of Health Insurance, and to help make Social Healthcare information systems more efficient and reliable, Axway handles the integration of all the functional and technical components of an EAI platform specifically for these spheres of activity.
  • Publisher of a healthcare information system (Sud Mutuelle: 2M beneficiaries)
  • Management of support function outsourcing operations with TPAM and TMAA, service centre and development centre offerings.  Complete application outsourcing of a life insurance system for a major bank/insurance company handled by Sopra Group on a near-shore provincial basis is a probative example.
  • Implementation of the market's principal ERPs (SAP, Oracle applications) with 800 Sopra Group consultants in this field.  The logistics and IS EIG functions for one of the leading insurance companies are managed with SAP.  In another credit insurance company, an Oracle Applications project manages financial functions.
